Oberhüttensee Tour

From the centre of Forstau you head in a southerly direction to Forstau-Winkl. The first 4 km are on tarmac, then the gravel road heads slightly uphill for around 7 km up to the managed Alpine lodges, Fallhausalm and Vögeialm.

From there an "intensive" mountain cycle tour tour starts, up to Oberhüttensee with Oberhütte (1860m), where you will have earned some refreshments! Take care when going downhill on the return section!

Zaimberg circuit

You head in a northerly direction from the town centre, past the Langeggteich conservation area, through Auwald until just before Heimlscharte (1018m). The route then heads along the Eibenbergweg trail up to Brandscharte.

From there a steep path heads through Zaimwald down to Mandling. From Mandling you head along the Enns to Gleiming and a rural road which lasts around 3 km takes you back to Forstau.

Fageralm trail

From Forstau a rural road heads to Radstadt. After around  2.5 km you reach a turn-off, "Fageralmen", and reach a unusual mountain road which climbs steadily upwards. At the start you are on tarmac and later the route becomes gravel.

It’s well worth struggling to get up to the Fageralm since the view you get from the end station, Berggasthof Trinkeralm, to the entire region is simply breathtaking!
